It is also advisable to turn off the option to compact messages in the background, as this option tends to corrupt OE's database.
- Fetching more than 300 newsgroup headers at a time
Tools | Options | Read
Change the amount from 300 upto a maximum of 1,000, or, remove the tick from the "GET" box to download all the headers on the
server.
- Splitting files for uploading to newsgroups
Tools | Accounts | News | Account | Properties | Advanced
tick "Break apart messages" and choose a size for the splits
- Setting filters for Korean spam
Create a new rule based on "where the subject contains",
in the next field select mark as read, delete it, and, stop processing more rules.
As this rule will delete messages with an empty subject line you may want to create a folder and move the messages instead of delete
Next click on the blue lettering "where the subject contains*******" when the next dialogue box pops up enter "a" (no quotes) then enter "e" then "i" and so on through the vowels ending with "y".
Make sure to click "add" between each letter.
Click advanced and in the top section select "does not contain".
That will automatically change the bottom section to "or".
Then apply the rule.
The theory here being that all words in the English language contain vowels therefore "no subject" messages will get filtered.
- Extracting e-mails from Outlook Express folders
Download DBXtract ver 4.40 and extract your e-mails to a folder of your choice.
